Zbigniew Morsztyn
ABOUT ZBIGNIEW MORSZTYN
Polish poet who lived in the 17th century. He primarily wrote religious poetry, as he was part of a religious sect called the Polish Brethren.
He served in the army for nine years, and fought against both Swedes and Russians in the Northern Wars.
He fled to Prussia in 1662 due to religious persecution and subsequently became the Ducal Councillor of Frederick William. He wrote about the devastation and destructions of war.
He had a cousin named Jan Andrzej Morsztyn, who was also a poet.
He and John Milton were both famous 17th century poets.
