ABOUT ZANA BRISKI

British photographer and film director whose documentary, Born into Brothels: Calcutta's Red Light Kids, won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature Film. She spent ten years in Calcutta working on the project. She is the founder of the non-profit organization Kids with Cameras.

She attended the University of Cambridge and the International Center of Photography.

She received the Lucie Humanitarian Award in 2005. She posts nature photography on her zanabriski Instagram account. She spent twelve years seeking out remote, wild places and insects to photograph and film. She primarily uses 35 mm black and white film for her work, and uses a Leica macro as one of her cameras.

She is from London, England.
