ABOUT Z RANDALL STROOPE
Composer and conductor whose best known works include Lamentaciones de Jeremias, Hodie! (This Day), and Amor de mi alma. He won both the Australian-American Fulbright and the Douglas R. McEwen award for National Choral Excellence.
He studied vocal performance at the University of Colorado-Boulder before earning his Doctorate in conducting from Arizona State University.
He guest-conducted orchestras at venues such as the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall, and he also taught conducting and voice at Oklahoma State University.
He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
His primary musical composition mentors, Normand Lockwood and Cecil Effinger, had, themselves, studied with Gabriel Faure's protégée, Nadia Boulanger .
