Baton Rouge-based rapper who rose to fame on the strength of his Gold-selling debut album My Balls & My Word. He owes much of his early success to Master P , who gave him a spot on the I'm 'Bout It soundtrack.
He started selling his own rap mixtapes in the streets of his Louisiana neighborhood as a teenager.
Despite mostly-good album sales, he has been unable to stay on a record label, switching between labels like No Limit, West Coast Mafia, and Strange Music.
His mother recited poetry to him when he was very young.
Rap superstar Master P helped him earn a deal with Priority Records, who released his debut album in 1998.
