First baseman and left fielder who made his MLB debut in 2010 with the Cincinnati Reds and joined the San Diego Padres in 2012.

He played baseball at the University of Miami.

The Minnesota Twins drafted him in the 15th round in 2005, but he elected to go to college instead.

He was born in Havana, Cuba.

Gold Glove second baseman Brandon Phillips was his teammate on the Reds.
