ABOUT YOICHI SAI
Japanese film director and actor known for his comedy film All Under the Moon and his drama film Blood and Bones. The latter won four Japanese Academy Awards. As an actor, he portrayed Commander Isami Kondo in Nagisa Oshima 's 1999 historical drama film, Taboo.
He made his directorial debut with the 1983 drama film Mosquito on the Tenth Floor.
He served as the president of the Directors Guild of Japan. His 1999 drama film The Pig's Retribution won the Don Quijote Award at the 1999 Locarno Film Festival. Throughout his career, he directed more than 15 different film projects.
His father was of Korean descent.
Jun Kunimura was part of the cast of All Under the Moon. Takeshi Kitano starred in Blood and Bones.
