Japanese actress who became known for her role as Naoko Okumura in the 1984 film, The Return of Godzilla.
She won a Toho Cinderella beauty contest sponsored by the Toho Company Ltd. movie studio when she was 19 years old.
She provided her voice for the character of Chihiro's mother in the popular animated film, Spirited Away. She had to eat KFC chicken while speaking her lines to create the effect of having a mouth full of food.
She has a British father and a Japanese mother.
Her best known film, Spirited Away, was directed by the great Hayao Miyazaki .
