ABOUT YAHSHIMABET SELLASSIE-HALL
Chef known as the founder and CEO of Yahshi Bakes. She is known for making granola, cupcakes, cookies, pancakes, tarts and savory dishes. In 2016, she was the first runner-up in the Food Network's Kids Baking Championship . She wowed judges Valerie Bertinelli and Duff Goldman with her two-tier mocha chocolate and chai spice cake.
She developed her culinary interest at the age of four. At age seven, she began to cook and bake independently. She prepared food for her family most weekends.
She won a spot on Kids Baking Championship after submitting her signature lemon grass raspberry cake. She is also an avid artist who enjoys drawing, painting and sculpting. In June 2017, she and her mother hosted a fundraiser called We Knead Dough to raise money for an Oakland-based nonprofit.
Her parents are named Tsadea Neway and Abba Yahudah Sellassie. They were vegetarians who worked in the restaurant business. She was influenced by their Jamaican and Ethiopian roots. She has siblings named Taqami and Wdassae.
She and Natasha Jiwani are both famous chefs who appeared in Kids Baking Championship.
