William Wegman
ABOUT WILLIAM WEGMAN
Video artist, conceptualist, photographer, and painter who is known for having created video works for Saturday Night Live and Nickelodeon. He is also known for having several retrospectives of his works at museums such as the Walker Art Center, the Kunst Museum in Lucrene, and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
He earned his BFA in painting from the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston in 1965. He then earned his MFA in painting from the University of Illinois. He moved to Southern California in 1970 and started teaching art at California State College, Long Beach.
His work has also appeared on the covers of several magazines including The New Yorker and Wallpaper.
He was born and raised in Holyoke, Massachusetts.
He is also known for his television appearances and has appeared as a guest on the shows of Jay Leno , Johnny Carson , and David Letterman .
