ABOUT WILLIAM DU PONT JR.

Businessman who became an influential figure in Thoroughbred horse racing who designed more than 20 horse racing venues. He was a member of the affluent Delaware Du Pont family.

He was raised in great wealth and attended private schools growing up.

He was posthumously inducted into the Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame in 1979.

His sister is famed horse breeder Marion duPont Scott.

He was raised in the former home of President James Madison .
