ABOUT WILBERT ROBISON

'Uncle Robbie' was a Hall of Fame player and manager of the Orioles.

He was a catcher for the Baltimore Orioles during their rough and tumble years in the 1890s.

In the 1917 spring training he demonstrated that he could catch a ball thrown out of an airplane - but instead of a ball he caught a grapefruit.

His brother Fred Robinson played three games for the Cincinnati Outlaw Reds during their only season.

He was a close friend and a teammate to John McGraw on on the Orioles.
