Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning playwright who authored The Heidi Chronicles.

She earned a B.A. in history from Mount Holyoke College in 1971.

She won the Tony Award, the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, and the Pulitzer Prize in 1989 for Drama for her play The Heidi Chronicles.

She gave birth to her daughter Lucy in 1999.

She wrote the screenplay for the film The Object of My Affection, which starred Jennifer Aniston .
