ABOUT WARREN WINKELSTEIN
Epidemiologist and a professor in the School of Public Health at the University of California, Berkeley who worked on the polio vaccine during its initial test trials. He is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences.
He attended Columbia University where he studied public health.
In the 1980s and thereafter, he focused his work mainly on HIV and the AIDS pandemic and concluded that Aids was related to drug use, and notion that has since been proven false.
He resided in California until his death.
He was influenced by Edward Jenner .
