ABOUT WALTER MURPHY

American composer, arranger, pianist, musician, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known for the instrumental "A Fifth of Beethoven", a disco adaptation of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony which was featured on the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack.

He began studying music at the early age of four. In the early 1970's, he was the leader of the band WAM. In April of 1972, he had original music played on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. He continued to develop music both on solo projects and in film and television.

He has won several awards for his music including the 1979 Grammy Award for Album of the Year for Saturday Night Fever. He also won the 2002 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Music and Lyrics for the song "You've Got a Lot to See" from Family Guy .

He was born and raised in New York, New York.

He has collaborated with a variety of different artists including Seth MacFarlane , Rick James , and Ron Jones .
