In 1909, he obtained his bachelor's from Harvard University, where he studied philosophy.

He was honored by the US Postal Service with a 6-cent Great Americans series stamp.

He was born to parents Jacob and Daisy Baum Lippmann in Manhattan.

Like author Booth Tarkington , he graduated from Harvard University.
