He sold jewelry in small shops and at parties while performing comedy monologues to support his family.
He was the voice for the popular animated character Underdog.
He married third wife, Patricia Tiernan, in 1969.
He co-starred with Maureen Hingert in the NBC sitcom The Adventures of Hiram Holliday.
