ABOUT VYTAUTAS STRAIZYS
Lithuanian astronomer who helped create and develop the Vilnius photometric system. He was elected as a Corresponding Member of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences in 1996 and he has worked at the MolÄ—tai Astronomical Observatory.
He studied Astrophysics at Vilnius University and then went to the Institute of Physics and Mathematics of Lithuanian Academy of Sciences.
The Asteroid 68730 Straizys was named after him in 2002.
His parents raised him in Utena, Lithuania.
He and Charles Smyth were both well known astronomers.
