ABOUT VLADIMIR DZHANIBEKOV

A veteran of five cosmonaut missions, he spent 145 days in space. Also a politician, he served during the 1980s and early 1990s as Deputy to the Supreme Soviet of the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic.

He was a flying instructor in the Soviet Air Force.

He logged over eight hours of EVA (extra-vehicular activity).

He married Liliya Munirovna Dzhanibekova and had two children.

He was a cosmonaut like Yuri Gagarin .
