ABOUT VINCENZO MONTELLA
Former striker, soccer player, and athlete that played soccer professionally for 18 years until retiring in the year 2008. During his professional career, he also played for the Italian men's national team. He later began his professional coaching career with AS Roma in 2009.
He first discovered his passion for soccer as a young boy growing up. He was later given an opportunity to join the Empoli FC youth club in the year 1986.
As a member of the Italian men's national team, he helped his squad place silver during the 2000 UEFA Euro Championships. Unfortunately, he and his team lost to France with a score of 2-1. He stands five feet, eight inches tall.
He and his wife, Rachele, got married in the year 2010. He is the father of two children.
He played against Zinedine Zidane during the 2000 UEFA EuroCup.
