ABOUT VERONICA GUERIN
Irish crime reporter who was murdered on June 26th, 1996 for writing about organized crime. She had worked as a reporter for the Sunday Business Post, the Sunday Tribune, and lastly, the Sunday Independent. She also played on the Irish national teams for both soccer and basketball.
She attended Trinity College Dublin where she studied accounting.
In 1997, her name was added to the Freedom Forum Journalists Memorial in Arlington, Virginia. The memorial honors journalists who have died in the line of duty.
After graduating, she worked at her father's company but left several years after his death to start a public relations firm.
She is among a number of notable Irish journalists, including Donal Macintyre and Martha Kearney .
