ABOUT VERNON FORREST

Nicknamed "The Viper" for his sudden, stinging jab, he is best known for two victories over Shane Mosley .

He started boxing when he was 8 years old.

He won silver in the 1991 World Amateur Championships in the light welterweight division.

He was tragically shot and killed in 2009 while at a gas station with his 11-year-old godson.

He lost back-to-back fights against the brawling Ricardo Mayorga .
