He was homeschooled until the age of 14. His full name is Tyde Levi Mellet, but he chose to use Levi as his surname on stage.

He first joined YouTube on January 13, 2011 and uploaded his first video, "I've Got Nothing (ChartJackers) - Tyde Levi Drum Remix," only a day later.

His brother is fellow YouTube sensation Troye Sivan . He introduced his sister Sage in a 2013 Sibling Tag video. He has another brother named Steele .

He uploaded the video " Tyler Oakley 's Boyfriend?" in June of 2014, accumulating more than 400,000 views in just one month.
