Trey Sweeney
ABOUT TREY SWEENEY
Major league shortstop that was originally drafted by the New York Yankees with the 20th overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft. After two seasons with New York, he was then acquired by the Los Angeles Dodgers . He has also played for the Detroit Tigers during his professional baseball career.
Prior to being drafted, he played college baseball at Eastern Illinois University. During his final season at Eastern Illinois, he was named the OVC Player of the Year.
In 2021, he became the first player in Eastern Illinois program history to be named a first team NCAA All-American. He's also the fourth player in Eastern Illinois history to be named OVC Player of the Year.
Growing up, he lived with his family in Louisville, Kentucky.
He was once packaged in a trade that also included Jack Flaherty .
