Former MLB outfielder who won five World Series rings as a member of the New York Yankees. He led the league in triples and runs in 1948.
He played in the minor leagues for fifteen years from 1907-1921.
He had a remarkable .323 batting average in the 1947 World Series against the Brooklyn Dodgers.
His wife Eileen died in March 2009.
He played under legendary manager Joe McCarthy .
