British center fielder who played 17 seasons in the major leagues.
He was first signed by the Orioles in 1882.
He stole a career-high 106 bases in 1891.
He grew up with his family in Liverpool, England.
An umpire after his playing career was finished, he got into a heated argument with Hall-of-Fame second baseman Nap Lajoie on September 30, 1898 and ejected him from the game.
