ABOUT TOM BIANCHI
Writer and photographer whose bibliography primarily revolves around the gay male experience. He has published numerous titles including Out of the Studio, Extraordinary Friends, and In Defense of Beauty.
He earned a degree in political science from the University of New Mexico before going on to earn a Juris Doctor from Northwestern University School of Law. He subsequently practiced corporate law for a decade before leaving his career at the age of 34 to pursue art.
His book Fire Island Pines Polaroids 1975-1983 was named on Time Magazine's list of Best Photo Books of 2013.
He created Fire Island Pines Polaroids with his partner, Ben Smales.
He and director Gus Van Sant were both honored by the Tom of Finland Foundation and inducted into the Artist Hall of Fame in 2023.
