Actor best known for his role in the film It's A Wonderful Life . He also had roles in the films Good Sam and The Caine Mutiny.
After he performed in theater, he pursued an acting career rather than as a newspaper reporter. He started his professional career in 1941.
He served in the Army Air Corps during the second world war. He retired in 1956 from film and opened a theater company in Mexico with his wife.
He was born in Hollywood, California to parents Roscoe Karns and Mary Fraso. He married Katherine Karns in 1944 and they had 3 children together.
He acted alongside Mickey Rooney
