Also known as Lady Evans, she edited Vanity Fair and The New Yorker and wrote The Diana Chronicles.

She attended St. Anne's College and the University of Oxford.

She became a United States citizen in 2005 after moving to work as the editor of Vanity Fair.

She married Harold Evans in 1981 and the couple had a son named George and a daughter named Isabel.

Her mother, Bettina Iris Kohr, once worked as one of Laurence Olivier 's assistants.
