ABOUT TIM HUNT
British biochemist who was awarded the 2001 Nobel Prize for his discovery of molecules of protein that engineer cell duplication. In 2006 he was given the Royal medal and knighted by the Queen.
He received his Ph.D. from Clare College, Cambridge, producing a thesis on the topic of hemoglobin synthesis.
He began working for England's Imperial Cancer Research Fund in 1990.
He was the son of Kit Rowland and paleography professor Richard William Hunt.
Hunt, Paul Nurse , and Leland H. Hartwell were all involved in the discovery of protein molecules that control cell division, and the three men shared the 2001 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
