He entered the fashion industry early, landing his first job with Ralph Lauren in the early 1990s.

In 2009, he was honored with the CFDA Swarovski Award for Emerging Menswear Designer.

He was born in Iowa but raised in New York.

He once worked for J. Crew, which was endorsed by reality star Ty Pennington .
