ABOUT THOMAS SYDENHAM

Called the father of clinical medicine, he brought back observation and recording of patients in treatment.

He suffered from gout, which gave him a chance to study the affliction firsthand.

He was the first person to accurately record and describe scarlet fever, hysteria, and several other maladies.

His two older brothers died in war.

He was a close friend of philosopher John Locke .
