ABOUT THOMAS JAMES MURPHY
Professional catcher that was drafted by the Colorado Rockies during the third round of the 2012 MLB Draft. He was acquired by the Seattle Mariners via trade in March 2019.
He began his professional career playing for the Tri-City Dust Devils of the Northwest League.
He made his major league debut playing against the Mariners on September 12, 2015.
He grew up with his parents, Kelly and Tom Sr., in West Monroe, New York.
While playing for the Holyoke Blue Sox of the New England Collegiate Baseball League, he hit a home run against Kevin Gausman in 2011.
