ABOUT THOMAS JOSHUA CUTLER
American author known for his large body of work surrounding educational military, particularly naval, subjects. He is also a retired naval officer and historian. His active duty in the navy included an in-country combat tour in Vietnam where he commanded a small craft and served on a handful of naval ships.
He earned a Master of Arts degree at Norwich University in 1988.
He founded and served as the first Director of the Walbrook Maritime Academy in Baltimore, Maryland. He has received multiple awards for his writing, including the Afred Thayer Mahan Award for Literary Achievement.
He and his wife Deborah married in 1971 and had two children together.
He and Studs Terkel are both authors known for their military writings.
