Theodore Guerin
ABOUT THEODORE GUERIN
French nun who founded the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, a congregation of Catholic nuns, in 1840.
She joined a convent when she was 25.
She, along with five other nuns, traveled from France to Indiana in 1840 and founded several schools and missions.
Her father, Laurent Guérin, was an officer in the French Navy under Napoleon Bonaparte .
She was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1998.
