Boxer who has gained acclaim as the unified lightweight world champion. Following his December 2019 IBF title victory, he unified the lightweight division titles with his October 2020 victory to win the WBO, WBA and WBC titles. He became the youngest four-belt champion since the WBO's inception in 1988.
He began training for boxing at age 6. His father trained him.
He won the 2015 National Golden Gloves tournament. His October 2020 fight to claim the WBO, WBA and WBC titles was the first major boxing match of the COVID-19 pandemic.
His parents were Honduran immigrants.
He defeated Vasyl Lomachenko at the October 2020 bout to win the WBO, WBA and WBC titles and unify the lightweight division.
