ABOUT SUSANNA SHAKESPEARE

This first daughter and oldest child of the renowned playwright William Shakespeare grew up in Stratford-Upon-Avon, England, with two younger siblings, Hamnet and Judith.

Her parents, William Shakespeare and Anne Hathaway, married while they were expecting her birth. She was baptized on May 26, 1583; her exact birth date is unknown.

In the second decade of the 1600s, she and her husband were involved in a slander suit against a man named John Lane (who had wrongly accused her of adultery).

Her marriage to physician John Hall resulted in a daughter, Elizabeth, who was the final descendant of William Shakespeare.

Upon his 1616 death, her famous father, William Shakespeare , left her the majority of his estate.
