She graduating from the all-girl boarding school Stoneleigh-Burnham School in Greenfield, Massachusetts. She later earned a B.A. in sociology from Bridgewater State College.

She is an animal lover who has worked at the Leach Animal Hospital and with The Humane Society of the United States.

She has a sister named Diana.

She got to meet rock legend Bruce Springsteen in 2016.
