Famous as the father of NFL running back Ezekiel Elliott . He has frequently been featured alongside his son in the media as a mentor figure to his son.

His son rose to widespread fame for his play as a member of the NCAA's Ohio State Buckeyes football team. He was subsequently selected with the #4 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys .

He played college football for the Missouri Tigers as a linebacker. He publicly supported his son during his six game suspension during the middle of the 2017 NFL season.

His wife is Dawn Elliott.
