She had first attended cosmetology school, while working various odd jobs. She then graduated with a dual degree in political science and psychology from college.
In 2011, she made her acting debut in the film Dead Money. Since 2011, she has appeared in and co-produced comedic sketches with the comedian Paul Mooney .
On September 8, 2003, she married her then-boyfriend of three years Ginuwine. The two had four daughters together before divorcing in 2015.
As a rapper, she has collaborated with Tech N9ne on his 1999 single "Clueless."
