Sergej Barbarez

ABOUT SERGEJ BARBAREZ

Former midfielder known for his versatility. He played professionally from 1991 to 2008 and internationally for Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1998 to 2006.

He began his youth career in 1984 with FK Velez Mostar.

He is a three-time Bosnian Footballer of the Year, winning the award three consecutive times from 2001 to 2003.

He raised two sons: Filip-Andre, who was born in 1994, and Sergio-Luis, who was born in 1999.

Striker Edin Dzeko debuted for Bosnia and Herzegovina's national team in 2007, the year after Barbarez's final international appearance.
