He studied acting at the City of Glasgow College while putting himself through school working night shifts.

He's also very active in Scottish community theater and was awarded Pride of West Lothian - Special Recognition Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Community Theatre while he was artistic director of a theatre in Bathgate, Scotland.

He married wife Karen and the two have a cat named Jess. His mother's name is Joyce.

He's worked with Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe on Outlander.
