Founder and CEO of both the biopharmaceutical company ImClone Systems and Kadmon Pharmaceuticals.
He earned a bachelor's degree and doctorate in immunobiology from Ohio State University in 1974 before working as a medical researcher at Stanford University and Tufts University.
He pleaded guilty in 2003 to charges of conspiracy and wire fraud for avoiding $1.2 million in sales taxes. He spent time in prison from 2003 to 2009.
He was born to Holocaust survivors in Paris, France.
