Samuel Taylor Coleridge
ABOUT SAMUEL TAYLOR COLERIDGE
English Romantic poet who is best remembered for The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. His other famous works include Kubla Khan and Biographia Literaria.
He spent much of his childhood reading and went on to attend Jesus College, Cambridge.
Kubla Khan was inspired by a dream that Coleridge had while he was under the influence of opium.
He had four children with his wife Sarah Fricker.
He and William Wordsworth were literary contemporaries and friends, and they collaborated on a poetry volume entitled Lyrical Ballads.
