He published his first film critique book, Cinema 65, in 1966.
He was invited to over 170 film festivals and seminars across Africa, Asia, the United States and Europe during his lengthy career.
He was born to parents Afghar and Eishel Farid in Egypt.
He was an active film critic during the same period as Roger Ebert .
