Fogarino began playing drums when he was thirteen years old. He attended the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale.

He was in a band called The Setting Suns.

He has been married twice, first to Cindy Wheeler and second to Christy Bush, with whom he had a daughter.

He is a fan of Gene Krupa .
