ABOUT SD BURMAN
Famed composer in Hindi cinema. He produced music for "Do Bhai," "Shabnam," "Chupke Chupke," and over 100 other films.
He received formal music training from musician K.C. Dey from 1925 until 1930. He was also taught by such notables as K.C. Dey and Ustad Allauddin Khan.
He earned seven Filmfare nominations for Best Music Director from 1954 to 1974, winning for "Taxi Driver" from 1954 and "Abhimaan" from 1973.
His father was the famed Nabadwipchandra Dev Burman and his mother was Rajkumari Nirmala Devi, princess of Manipur. His son Rahul Dev Burman became a music director.
His songs were sung by many of India's most famous singers, including Geeta Dutt and Manna Dey.
