Ross Atkins
ABOUT ROSS ATKINS
American baseball executive and former baseball player known for managing the Cleveland Indians for 15 years before becoming manager of the Toronto Blue Jays .
He played baseball in both high school and college before having a five-year career in the minor leagues. He retired from playing baseball in 1999. He was hired by the Cleveland Indians in 2001 which started his long career in baseball management.
He pitched right-handed during his baseball career. He is fluent in Spanish. On April 7, 2021, it was announced that the Blue Jays organization signed Atkins to a five year contract extension, to the end of the 2026 season.
He was born in Greensboro, North Carolina but raised in Miami, Florida.
He helped add Melvin Upton Jr. , Joaquin Benoit , and Francisco Liriano to the Toronto Blue Jays roster.
