3-time United States Featherweight Champion and Olympic silver medalist. He won the 1999 World Amateur Boxing Championships.
He had an outstanding amateur career, posting a record of 145-17.
His 2003 knockout of Antonio Diaz was named The Ring Magazine's Knockout of the Year.
He was born and raised in Houston, Texas.
