ABOUT RICK MERCER

Comedian and political satirist who appeared on This Hour Has 22 Minutes and The Rick Mercer Report. He received more than 25 Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television Gemini Awards for his work on television.

He first came to national attention in 1990, when he created and presented a one-man stage show - Show Me the Button, I'll Push It, or Charles Lynch Must Die - at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Canada.

His 2001 television special, Talking to Americans, was the highest-rated comedy special in the history of CBC Television.

His mother was a nurse and his father was a fishery worker. In 1990, he began a relationship with television producer Gerald Lunz.

Geddy Lee appeared on a recurring skit on the Rick Mercer Report titled "Celebrity Tip."
