ABOUT RICK ATKINSON
American journalist and author who won Pulitzer Prizes in both History and Journalism.
He grew up on military bases around the world and spent time in Georgia, Idaho, Pennsylvania, California, and Hawaii.
He won the Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting in 1982 while employed with The Kansas City Times.
He had two children with his wife Jane Ann Chestnut, whom he married in 1979.
His 2002 Pulitzer Prize winning book, An Army at Dawn: The War in North Africa, 1942-1943, detailed Dwight Eisenhower 's efforts during the allied invasion of North Africa during World War II.
